PEDAGOGICAL METHODS EMPLOYED AT English courses Madrid

English courses Madrid understands that learning a new language can be both fun and frustrating. This learning institute has over a decade of experience in teaching a range of foreign languages from Spanish, French and Italian to English and German.
It takes approximately several years for a child to get the knack on speaking properly. Learning a new language later on in life may seem as if it takes a whole lifetime. Curso Ingles Madrid is perceptive to this sentiment and brings the student back to basics with a method that parallels the way in which one learns a language of origin.
Cursos relies on an effective one-of-a-kind pedagogical technique, ultimately enabling the eager student to expedite the language learning curve. Its unique teaching method distinguishes itself from other language schools because it goes beyond the traditional style of a classroom setting, which typically contains multiple students. Rather, each class simply consists of one student and the native speaker.
Curso Ingles Madrid’s personal training system guarantees that each pupil has the full attention of the teacher making it impossible for any student to find it dull, boring and become apathetic. Working vis-a-vis, each person is guided, challenged and encouraged to speak the language properly, and at the same time builds a rapport with the instructor ultimately gaining an increased level of confidence.
Awareness to learners’ different needs and flexibility is required to accommodate the pace, various interests, backgrounds, personalities and needs. The teacher is there to lead the way on a case-by-case basis customizing the learning procedure. When students know they have the full attention of their teacher, they tend to put more of an effort in learning the language because of the relationship formed.
As each prospective pupil enters the school, they are first given an evaluation test whereby a level is assessed. Once this is done, it’s off to the races! Courses Ingles Madrid houses a listening centre so that each student listens to a CD containing text on a specific subject. The level of each text is determined based on the results of the initial assessment. CDs have a range of topics from “The First Day at the Language School,” to “How to Prepare Youself When Adjusting to a new city,” to an article excerpted from a news journal such as the BBC. Each topic parallels with the distinct needs of the beginner to one who is about to embark on the TOEFL exam.
The text read in the CD is typically voiced by two to four characters generally baring different accents thereby exposing pupils to different modes of pronunciation. Each lesson contains new vocabulary words that have to be then repeated. Next, students listen to a variety of key phrases and are then poised to repeat them once again. Repetition is key, as this entire process is then executed another two times ensuring that the information is absorbed.
The listening aspect to learning a new language is fundamental because it focuses and develops comprehension skills and pronunciation. Comprehension and pronunciation are also strengthened as a result of the process emplyed at Cursos Ingles Madrid. Pronunciation is just as important as understanding vocabulary. If a student fails to pronounce a word correctly then people will not understand them making learning a new language close to futile.
After listening to the CD, the student receives a copy of the typed text and reads it. Reading is then followed by one-on-one time with the native English speaking teacher. The teacher reads a sentence and the student repeats. The objective of this portion is to achieve correct pronunciation allowing the student to identify what they are saying and if they are saying it incorrectly.
When the reading of the text portion is finished, pupils are tested on how much they’ve learned from what they’ve just listened and read. They must begin each sentence with the subject followed by a verb and direct object. As a result, conversational skills are developed not only enhancing the speaking of the student but the level of their confidence as well.
When the session with the teacher ends, the student has a list of grammar exercises to execute, either on their own time or at the language centre. All grammar is corrected by an English teacher, once again on a one-on-one basis, making it more effective because pupils get a better understanding of where and why they made their mistakes.
Many other language schools focus on repetitive and trite grammatical exercises. Tenses such as the active and passive voice, direct and indirect speech, subject-verb agreement, etc... , often baffle and overwhelm students because more times than not these rules cannot be practically applied when practicing the language.
